Our goals
The main objective of Isik University’s MA program in Middle East Studies is to provide students with a critical understanding of the political, economic, and cultural dynamics which shape the region. The program will be of an interdisciplinary nature, designed to provide students with a multifaceted perspective that incorporates contemporary theoretical perspectives, ranging from economics and international relations to history, anthropology, and political science.
The MA program in Middle East Studies is a non-thesis program. The program requires 30 credits of course work, 2 non-credit seminar courses, and a term project for graduation. Students are expected to complete these requirements in 3 semesters. For the first two semesters the course work consists of 3 compulsory courses, 1 elective course, and 1 elective language course (Arabic or Hebrew). The term project is to be submitted and presented in the third semester.
Prospective Students
The program is open to interested individuals from diverse backgrounds whose aim is to become specialists on issues concerning the Middle East. Participants will also have the opportunity to focus on a specific country or issue in the region. We welcome graduates from all disciplines, state and military personnel, members of NGOs, think-tanks, other voluntary associations, the private sector and the media.
